Mayan Horror Daily Blog November 22nd

One of the biggest things you notice while you’re standing waiting for the airport bus at Front and York Street in Toronto at 6:45am is that the Christmas lights are lit on the CN Tower. Okay, not Christmas lights per se but at this time of the year, they make the outside lights green and red. Made me feel real Christmasy all over. Speaking of Christmas, yesterday, I mentioned having lunch with my old high school friends Gale and Jan. What I should have mentioned is that back when we were kids, our church put on the annual Christmas pageant. Jan was cast as Mary and I was Joseph. We now like to tell people we were married at one time, but slowly just drifted apart, mostly because after you’ve given birth to the Son of God, it’s all downhill from there.

So, today it was Winnipeg with the snow melting and the mud and darned if I didn’t remember to bring my galoshes with me…oh, wait, I don’t own galoshes. McNally Robinson’s bookstore in Winnipeg at Grant Park is truly a magnificent bookstore. It’s huge and you can tell what they’re all about because there’s a massive mural over the checkout desk with photos f Canadian authors who’ve been to the store to do readings. I was impressed and look what they did for my book!!!

Any author would be thrilled with a bookstore display like that. Okay, tomorrow, I fly off to George Diefenbaker Airport in Saskatoon and see what I can stir up there. Ciao!
